Johan Cronjé - Regional Vice President, Sub-Saharan Africa at Marriott International 

Johan Cronjé is Regional Vice President, Sub-Saharan Africa at Marriott International, Inc. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s managed and franchised operations across Sub-Saharan Africa, which currently comprises 111 properties with more than 14,300 rooms across 18 markets.

Mr. Cronjé began his hospitality career in 2001 with Protea Hotels by Marriott and has over 20 years of industry experience. His career includes various senior leadership roles, including General Manager at Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Cape Town, where he was named Protea Hotel General Manager of the Year in 2012. He also served as the opening General Manager of Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! by Marriott Menlyn and subsequently progressed to Regional General Manager, overseeing a portfolio of hotels in South Africa and Tanzania.

In 2019, Mr. Cronjé was appointed opening General Manager for the Johannesburg Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch and Marriott Executive Apartments. By 2021, he was promoted to Cluster General Manager, responsible for multiple hotels within the Melrose Arch Precinct. Most recently, he served as Area Director of Operations, Sub-Saharan Africa, driving operational disciplines and spearheading key business initiatives across the region.

Mr. Cronjé holds a national diploma in hospitality management from Tshwane University of Technology and currently lives in Cape Town, South Africa, with his family.
